Introduction
As time progresses, I am creating an online library / history of my
travels through the world of old (ancient) books.
In 2005, I finally began to organize my library, into a separate area. I
have books listed under their topic areas, but I am also making a main page
that will list all the books, as I add them to the site. Easier to find and
easier for me to maintain and know what I have posted.
Since I have a strange attraction to the Book of Revelations,
many of the items will be added as I come across them during my searches
concerning the writings and images of this book.
These days and times, also draw on parallels from various views and philosophies.
And, you will discover that there are many ways for them to give us, the
Absolute Truth. Here are comparisons of the sayings of Jesus,
Buddha, Confucius, Socrates.

Anyone who is not against
us is for us

A Place To Start
This is a starting point, for researching and understanding
the beginnings of the bible. They are diverse books, but I think this is how
you build up your understanding and stir your quest for wanting to
understand more, while realizing that you know less.

"The sculptor who, working upon the lifeless
marble, and has no passion in his love for the work, no love that makes the cold stone
almost blush at its own consciousness and palpitate with his love as he breathes
into the nostrils the breath of his own life, is no artist."

With the beginning of Guttenberg's press many Bibles were once again
translated from the Latin Vulgate. These magnificent large folio Bibles continued the medieval tradition of extracting notes by early Christian
writers, for inclusion and clarification of the texts.
The notes were on specific biblical verses. Then, those versus were placed alongside the Bible verses as a running "gloss" or commentary.
The most famous of these collections, the Glossa Ordinaria, is attributed to Wilfrid Strabo. Those editions includes the Glossa as well as an interlinear commentary.
The editorial and typesetting work behind such an edition was immense.
And, the variety of types needed and the exacting demands of such a layout are almost unimaginable. Projects such as these required the use of several presses, and there is still some disagreement as to how and who actually printed the books.
To keep track of all the pages in a project, the printed signatures at the bottom of each page, normally used as an aid to collating printed sheets.
The first printed version of the Glossa Ordinaria is still so useful to scholars that it was recently reissued in facsimile.
