Mis-Under-Standing the New Economy

This is a little piece, that came to mind as I am reading an article by James Mathewson. And, just to make note, it is 18 March 2004, but his article was written in February.

Why do we think that progress means lowering prices and reducing costs? Does anyone ever really think about it. Well, this is Mis-Understanding the New Economy, because this cost factor is a natural evolution.

Schrödinger's Cat

How do you think about something that is suppose to be absurd, and unthinkable?

Well, it is to simply not think about it, but to imagine and see it. That is how I found the many simple answers and solutions to Schrödinger's Cat problem. Knowing the cat is in the box, gives the solution away. Knowing the state of the cat, either alive or dead has so many reasonable solutions, that no one really wants to admit that it is a simple problem. So, here I am writing about The Solution to Schrödinger's Cat on a late Friday evening in September of 2002.

Oh, the simplicity of it all.

Kosher?

Is it a word, a meaning, or a way of life, that joins past and present.

The term KOSHER originally was something meant to describe that which is "fit" and "proper." And, we see it mostly tied to the preparation of Jewish food and Jewish dietary laws. However, many of the new and old generation used it to indicate something that is out of sync with the universe around them, as in, "That's not kosher!"

Things can be rendered, somehow, non-Kosher because of species of animal,  slaughtering techniques (or the lack thereof), or processing procedures. They can even be declared non-kosher because the wrong utensils and equipment, were either used or came into contact with each other?

When we get really strict, Kashrus helps maintain supervision (Pareve) and compliance with Halacha , or Jewish law, by the ever vigilant supervision of observant, orthodox Jews. The Kashrus word is used to describe the concept of dietary laws.

From the Question

From the question, Comes the answer.

Deep in the threads of my webpages, I talk about the significance of numbers. And, of course, as with all things, someone asked, “Why does 6 not also represent the number of days in which God created the earth?”

If we review the Book of Genesis, we will notice that nowhere does it say that God created the earth in six days. It simply states that He undertook and completed His works (divine plan) in six days, and rested on the 7th.

From a logical perspective, the earth would need to be, in itself, complete, in order to have a first day. This meaning that some cycle preexisted, and along with that some body existed, as a reference so that there could be a time known as the First Day.

Faith is enjoying what He gave us

There are many things that we think we need. But none of them are as needed as simplicity. And simplicity is the ability to enjoy the people and things around you. The things that were given for you to enjoy from the beginning of time.

The real truth in understanding, in my mind, is this.

We are so accustomed to what "They tell us" is what we want, that we do not really understand it.
What can be more beautiful than a sunrise or a sunset?

Or the ocean waves in the early morning mist of twilight?

What can be more beautiful than spending time with a loved one in front of a fire, or walking along a thin strip of grass in the evening?

None of these things cost money or require a great deal of effort to enjoy.

But, you must be satisfied with yourself first.

And that is exactly what "they do not want!"

How can stores have sales every day?

Why are the clothes you brought last month out of fashion, and the clothes from last year passé?

===================
It is very hard for us to understand that many things that we think we want or even like are not what we really like.

I know that I am a boob-tube baby, and I make every effort to keep that TV out of my mind as much as possible.

The same goes for radio to a much lesser extent.  They bombard you with new music and the latest concerts, even though you just brought 10 CDs the day before.

Have you ever noticed that the music you really  like the most is almost 40 or 50 years old. And in some cases even older.

And how about those great songs of the birds of the air, and the leaves of the trees? Is that not claming and enjoyable music also?

He is telling us that we must take the time to enjoy the wonderful things that he has created for us. Not the things that they have created for us and tell us, over and over again that we need.

Life is simple.

But we must have faith to enjoy it :-)

26 Oct 2000 - Doumo Arigato Gozaimashita

As our would gets smaller and smaller, it is really strange that the more I study, the more I realize how little I know.

Here at my wonderful job, we have just added Japanese language courses to our library. And I have the privilege if getting this information out to the world.

In crafting a message, and as we should do in all our messages, I also wanted to include Thank You in Japanese.

That should have been easy, since I have been studying the language, bit by tiny bit. O contrair!

I realized that I could speak it. And, even recognize the phrase when it is spoken. But, that I could not spell it correctly for a memo.

And, of course how do you spell check it, when you only have the language tools installed on your computer at home?
So, you go to the internet and start searching. But you need to come up with the correct combination of words or word pieces before any of the search engines will return something close to useful. computers do what you tell them, and then only find what you tell them to look for :-)

After I finally got close to ARIGATO, literally hundreds of links were returned with the correct spelling for the phrase.

Good friends and family are that way too.

You need to come up with the correct words and phrases, just to get them to talk to you. Like please, thank you, your welcome.  Once you get into that habit, your true friends and family will become just that.

True friends and family. Then, you will really know how to spell it. Not just say it.

 Happy holidays

And may the living calmness of Seishi grace all of your days.

Arigatou!

:-)

The Mind of Man

The markets are as predictable as the earth's travels around the Sun.

It is true that the earth travels around the sun, but it is not the absolute truth that the earth travels in a circle.

Our limited understanding and capabilities to see through the glamour of the Walled Street causes us to see what is not really there.

And we miss the fact that the moon and the earth do not travel at a constant speed through the void that we call, "The Constant Universe".

The Mind Of Discovery

It is really strange to watch the world shrink into a point as it continually tries to maintain its status as US verses them. The them being the rest of the universe.

What brings on this thought? Well it is, "Scientist discover new Planet."

How can that logically be a valid statement? If they are truly scientist, and they believe that it takes millions of billions of years to create a universe, not alone our own, then..

How can they say they discovered a New Planet? Is it not more to the point that they have become aware of something that was always there. Something that existed long before a tiny spec of matter had the first inkling of a thought to become organic, began the long crawl down that particular stretch of road which eventually become man today. But, is not man tomorrow. And even in that sense, organic as we have been taught to understand it, not organic as organic was at that first moment of its creation.

If should make one think of the statement "Columbus found the new world."

April 2000 Midnight Breeze

The cultures of the world offer so much more than just the plan language of their English speaking cousins who can not even agree on how our common language is spoken.

To think that one can think of the coolness of night as something sheer, penetrating silks, and cooling pillows of jade is exquisite and mind filling.

Please take a moment to read a poem by LiQingChow. Others will follow as time permits.

It is really had to image anything greater than a million bits of data, or a million candles in a window burning as a guiding light to one's faith. But what about a guiding light of a million burning hearts and souls reaching and searching to save and unit us all. How about 1 MILLION Women for one cause.

We depend on ourselves, but we depend on the women in our lives even more than we can imagine. Did Cleopatra belong to Anthony or did Anthony belong to Cleopatra?

26 Feb 1998 Acceptance of Time

Acceptance is so natural, that we do not even question time. Time is not something which is natural to the universe. Rather it is only natural to man as a measure of movement or motion.

Back in antiquity, the Egyptians did not know of time as we conceive it today. Their civilization existed and flourished thousands of years before they even thought of the concept of a calendar. And its use was for marking the proper times for planting and harvesting.

The original Egyptian calendar had 12 months of thirty days each. But even in the dawn of civilization they realized that this calendar did not match the movements of the universe. So they supplanted their calendar with 5 extra days each year. These extra days were used as a time of religious worship (it makes one wonder if this is way we have our Christmas' and our New Years celebrations. An extension of ancient race memories?).

Today, we accept the 12 hour clock and the 24 hour day. Why is this acceptance?

Because we do not know, and few of us ask, where did this subdivision of movement come from? We know that it is not natural, otherwise we would not need leap years. And our great science fiction novels about space and space travel would not elude to something called Galactic Standard Time.

We also know that it is not a matter of technology, because our technology can make any mechanical device measure as we please. We could simply change the circumference of the gears in a watch up a bit or down a bit. We can change the frequency of the crystals that keep our digital watches and clocks ticking (?) and humming so diligently.

But we don't. Why? Because of acceptance. Acceptance of an odd decision made hundreds or maybe thousands of years ago to create a device that measures motion as a thing called time. And that someone decided that the time we use has 24 hours consisting of 60 minutes consisting of 60 seconds each.

Now, the question is, "Why would ten fingered man create 12 digit time?"

10 Feb 1998 - Acceptance

Acceptance is the natural state only for the initiated, consists of the majority, and it engulfs the world(s) around it. For the gifted, and the lucky few, it is the beginning of New Questions. Anyone can and everyone does at one time or another ask questions when they are first leaning. And as Thomas Kuhn so quaintly turned a phrase..

Almost always the men who achieve these fundamental inventions of new paradigm have either been very young or very new to the field whose paradigm they change

(Thomas Kuhn, The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, p.90)

We can only have New Questions when we realize that any given statement of fact is simply an accepted opinion. And, for most of us, it is the opinion of SOMEONE whom we will never meet in this lifetime.

15 January 1998

Hello to the new year??

Many of our colleagues are now trying to decide if they want to stay the mainstream, or join the fury of the Year 2000 problem. This is not an easy decision because many of us do not really understand what those people are talking about?

Many of us will wake up on January 1, 2000 to find that we no longer exist. But the lucky ones will have their bad credit erased from the face of the earth because of the Two Digit Bandit!

The Year 2000 or Y2K as the industry likes to call it is not a problem if you are the guy who needs to pay for it, and paying for it means you don't get as big a bonus this year. But, for the rest of the world at large, Y2K may mean the erasure of our retirement income, or our health benefits.

For the more esoteric, Y2K means that my coffee pot will make coffee on Saturday and not on Monday when I really need it. My computer controlled access control system will now close the bank vault on Monday thinking that it is Sunday because the Month's starting date are different when you leave those two digits to the Two Digit Bandit.

And all of those Saturday and Sunday specials that you 8 event daily repeating recording VCR will miss because it thinks that the real day is either Friday or Monday. Remember that 1 January 2000 versus 1 January 1900, you tape collection will really take a beating those first few years of the new millennium.

But the world goes on!!

June 7, 1997

Hello,

I think that the real challenge will be to understand where the knowledge is available from and how to properly interpret that knowledge. This interpretation can be limited to your understanding or encompass a way of life. If you limit your search to the confines of American Literature and writings, I do not believe that you will reach your goal on the understanding of the Necronomicon writings.

Why?????

You must consider that what you read has been translated by the popular sect of (in our case) American Literature. That is why I alluded to the information about numbers ( http://www.cezwright.com/books/numbers.htm ) and their meaning. A
number was related directly to the alphabets of some cultures and to defining stages of progress and completeness. such things do not generally exist in out culture. Secondly, translations, while leaving room for our personal thoughts on subjects,
remove us far from personal interpretations of the original writings of the author and his / her country. I know it is a difficult road, but you seem to have a dedicated interest which will help you to overcome this embedded formality to understanding.
-----------

I have not included a section about the effects of interpretations and translations on my web page. I think that this is the next area that I should place at least some reference information there. As a basic example, I will assume that you like various types of music. And, if not presently, but eventually, you will begin to enjoy classical music. In this vain, as you listen to the composers of the past (more than 100 years), the following is interesting in (in my opinion) 1. The instruments used to play much of the music today, did not exist or exist in their present form at the time the composers wrote the music.
2. The standard for the reference note A was changed from 400 to 440 cycles around the turn of the century. this effects the harmonic and overtone content of the pieces.

3. The composers wrote the music with specific physical locations of the musicians in mind (there are even studies that detail the sonic differences created by the position of the musicians related to harmonics, room location / construction, and overtone).

4. Musical Authors (deemed authorized) actually took the original music and translated (rewrote) it to produce the interpretations that we listen to today.

---------

This same thing happens with books and writings by authors. If we are lucky, we get the original (as best as we can determine) writings of these authors. And from there we can get a glimpse of what they are attempting to say and preserve.
Please do not interpret this as downing American Literature. This is meant as an enlightenment to the roads of travel available for your searches into the writings of Necronomicon and The Mad Arab. Who himself was probably inspired by the discovery of this same illuminating metaphor.
